Bio

DC Scarpelli is a Senior Designer with Diablo Publications in Walnut Creek, California, where his design and production clients have included the American Cancer Society, Catholic Healthcare West, UC Hastings School of Law, Chevron, Diamond of California, Frito Lay, Ubisoft, the Oakland A's, the San Francisco Giants and the YMCA. He is also a design instructor for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. His background is in the theater, and in additon to doing theatrical publicity work, he is also a playwright, actor and impresario of Theatre Tremendo, a teeny-tiny (award-winning) company through which he produces the plays he writes with his husband, Peter Budinger. He is also a sometime book artist, and has created and edited several pieces in the library collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. DC holds a B.F.A. in Computer Arts: New Media from the Academy of Art University and a prior B.A. in Theater Studies from Yale University.


Yes, I'm afraid it's the law. Don't worry, though; this will be painless. My design philosophy is simply to tell a story in the richest, liveliest and most compelling way possible, with a firm grasp of an evocative popular culture that has a memory greater than the past two decades. I always hope that anything I create is striking, tempered with humor, and coming from a slightly skewed point of view. Or simply to quote the great English statesman Mary Poppins: "In every job that must be done there is an element of fun. You find the fun and—snap!—the job's a game!"
